Tree Pose (Vrikshasana) How to do & Benefits

                         Pronunciation -           vrik-sha-sa-na
                         Meaning –Vriksha ’ is the Sanskrit word and it means a ‘Tree’. 
                                                                              And asana means 'Posture' or 'Pose'.
                         Difficulty –  2 out of 10.

          This is balancing asana or pose.  Poor balance means restless mind or distracted attention.



How to do Tree Pose or Vrikshasana ?

Steps –

              1) Stand straight with legs together and hands straight down touch to the side of the thighs.

             2) Take couple of deep breath and calm your mind.
                         Now slowly bend your right leg from knee, while standing on only one (left) leg and place the sole of right foot inside of left leg thigh. As shown in picture above Heels upwards and toes downwards.

             3) Now you can do Namaskar Mudra while maintaining balance in Tree pose or you can do as we did hand gesture in Palm tree pose.
                        While breath – in, bring your hands slowly-slowly above the head, with palm facing each other.
                        Stay in this pose or Hold this pose for few seconds. 10 seconds are enough for beginner.
                        Your breathing must be gentle and at normal depth, while doing this Yoga pose.

             4) Then slowly bring your hands back to the original position.

             5) After that release the pose & bring the right leg on the floor.
                        Stand straight with legs together and hands straight down touch to the side of the thighs.

             6) Now just change the leg, this time take left leg and bend it from knee. Repeat the steps from 1 to 5.

Note –


        a) While doing this Yoga pose, Do not bend forward or backward.
        b) Try to maintain balance of your body on one leg. 
        c) Focus on one fix point to maintain the balance. 
        d) Keep your head, neck and body in one line. 
        e) Your hands must be parallel to each other. 
        f) Stretch your hands as much as you can upward direction.




Benefit –  

                 a) Regular practice of Tree yoga pose increase concentration.
                      b) Regular practice of Tree yoga pose improves balance and co-ordination of the body.  
                      c) This Yoga pose, helps to strengthen leg muscles.  
                      d) This Yoga pose, improves blood circulation.
                      e) This Yoga pose, helps to remove fatigue and laziness.



Limitation –


            a) Those who have knee-joint pain or ankle-joint pain should avoid to do Tree Pose or Vrikshasana.
            b) Avoid this Yoga pose, if you are feeling like qualm or reel.

                                            In previous published articles, we saw Yoga Poses for Meditation. Now we are going to watch and learn Yoga Poses for Health. Therefore today, we start from the easiest Yoga pose Tadasana or Palm Tree Pose.

How to do Tadasana or Yoga Palm tree pose step by step. Benefit of Tadasana, Limitation & Variation of Tadasana or Palm tree yoga pose

                           Pronunciation -           ta-da-sa-na
                           Meaning –Tada ’ is the Sanskrit word and it means ‘Palm Tree’. 
                                                                                  And asana means 'Posture' or 'Pose'. 
                           Difficulty – 1 out of 10.


How to do Palm tree Pose or Tadasana ?

Steps –

      1)     Stand straight with legs together and hands straight down touch to the side of the thighs, this also known as "Mountain Pose".

      2)   While breath – in, bring your hands slowly – slowly above the head, with palm facing each other and parallel with each other.

      3)   Slowly raise the heels and stretch your body upward as much as you can.
                    Stay in this pose or Hold this pose for few seconds. 10 seconds are enough for beginner.
                    Your breathing must be gently and at normal depth, while doing this Yoga pose.

      4)    Then slowly bring your heels back to the original position.

      5)    After that bring your hands slowly – slowly back to the side of thighs.



Note –


           a) While doing this Yoga pose, Do not bend forward or backward.
           b) While bringing your hands upward, your inner arms should touch to respective sides of ears.
           c) Keep your head, neck and body in one line.
           d) Your hands must be parallel to each other.
           e) Stretch your hands as much as you can.


Benefit –


           a) This Yoga pose, helps in increasing body height of growing children.
           b) This Yoga pose, stretches your whole body muscles and fibers.
           c) This Yoga pose, helps to strengthen thighs, knees and calf’s.
           d) This Yoga pose, helps to remove fatigue and laziness.



Limitation –

Why Men need Yoga more than Women do...

                  So, Today we are going to talk about - 

                               Why Men must do Yoga more than Women?

                                               When we talk about Exercise or Workout, what do you think a guy / men doing?  - Lifting a weights dumbbell, barbell in Gym etc.

                                                                      And what do you think a women doing?  - Yoga.  ….Right. But recently a women also started to lift dumbbells and barbells in Gym. Because both sex  (men and women) needs to fit, strength and healthy body.

                                                      But, What about the Yoga for Men?
                                                         Too feminine???

                                  One important thing, science proved that Yoga has benefits for both sexes. Still men are shy, they think its feminine and stay away from it. When I was Gym instructor in Nasik, Maharashtra (India)…I observed that they really think the Yoga would make men more sensitive like women’s. And another reason was they fill uncomfortable in different Yoga poses, because they think these poses are for women’s not for men’s.

                                   As I said earlier, Science proved the Yoga has benefits for both sexes. Yoga is not only for Women’s. Even though Science also proved that Men should / must practice Yoga more than Women do. Why, because  researches and observation did on 2016 on all population on earth (specially, USA, Russia, Asian countries-China, India, Japan etc) on male and female, observation studies shows that stress level percentage in male/men are much higher than female.

                                                               According to the observation studies 75 % men in stress and only 30 % women in stress. And 70 % men agree on negative impact of stress in their job, personal life and health. As a result 68% men do nothing for stress. Yoga is better and cheaper option to relieve the stress in other drug industry. Yoga is made for that reason, to calm your mind, relieve stress and focus on good things.

                                                      Another report from studies, in the last 30 years, the percentage of Obesity and Diabetes in men are too much higher than women.
